Author Kenneth J. Johnson has always had a passion for birding. Born in 1916, he has spent his whole life watching,
studying, and enjoying birds of all types. Kenneth is a retired physician and is no novice to writing. In addition to
many publications on medical subjects, he has written articles about birds for magazines like Birdwatcher's Digest
and Senior Lifestyles. Kenneth also writes a monthly column, entitled "The Birds", for the Bismarck Tribune in
Bismarck, North Dakota where he resides. He has conducted 82 breeding bird surveys for the U.S. and Canadian
governments. Over the past several decades, Kenneth has traveled and camped in all 50 states and 10 Canadian
provinces studying birds. During World War II while in Okinawa, he even managed to do a little birding when
feasible. His wife, Adele, has been his birding companion since their marriage in 1944 as well as taking their four
children with them on camping and birding tours.
